My project

hello friends .... in this blog i would like to say about one of my project which i have done in my previous company ...

My project name is Wheel Cylinder Inspection System ....

The project is to inspect an automobile component called wheel cylinder used in four wheeler brake system...My project was given by Mando India which is the manufacturer of brake system for various automobile manufacturers through out the world. The main challenges of the project is to inspect inside surface of the component and with a time limit of 28 sec.This project is designed in such a way that their will not be any manual interruption once the machine is started until it the operator stops manually.The main features of the machine are it contains 2 conveyors where the components are loaded and unloaded and two pick and place mechanisms which will be used for transporting the component from the loading conveyor to the inspection system and from inspecting conveyor to unloading conveyor.The main inspection system consists of 3 cameras which will inspect all features of the component.The main special feature of the this machine is it contains a boroscope camera which is automated by an servomotor and ball screw mechanism.The camera is used to inspect the internal surface of the component.This camera will move from bottom of the component as the component is placed in a special fixture.The component along with the fixture will index for every 5 mm movement of the boroscope camera.As the boroscope camera is moving up the fixture which holds the component will also index for inspecting 360 deg of the surface.The fixture will index in terms of 45 deg because the field of view of the camera is less.The main disadvantage of the boroscope camera is it can view only through 70 deg..So the accuracy of the inspection will be going down.
Only because of this the accuracy of the boroscope camera will be less than 100 microns.
But the machine can inspect a component with in the customer requirement that is 28 sec per component and with fully automated control system.
The machine can display the particular error when the error occurs automatically.Totally it requires an unskilled operator for operating it as it is fully automated.
Onces the inspection is completed only the accepted components will be inn the output conveyor and all other rejection components will be in the rejection bin.
finally it took 4 months to complete the project.
